Safety
Targets are a starting point, not a prescription.
calog calculates from what you tell it. That makes it useful, and it makes it fallible — a target built on inaccurate details is an inaccurate target. This page sets out exactly what is calculated from what, the limits that apply regardless, and where to get help if tracking has stopped being helpful.
If tracking has stopped feeling healthy
Counting calories can tip from useful into something harder to control. If that is happening — for you or for someone you know — these services are free, confidential and independent of calog. You do not need a diagnosis to contact them.

What calog calculates, and from what
Your daily targets are derived from details you enter yourself: height, current weight, date of birth, sex, activity level and your stated goal. calog has no way to measure any of them.
- An estimated daily energy requirement is calculated from those inputs, then adjusted by your goal.
- Protein, carbohydrate and fat targets are derived from that number.
- Nutrition figures for a meal are AI estimates based on how a food is usually prepared — not laboratory measurements. Every ingredient stays editable, and entries checked against public nutrition data carry a verified mark.
- None of this is a diagnosis, a prescription, or a clinical assessment. calog is not a medical service and does not replace one.
Because every target is computed from self-reported details, entering values that are not accurate produces targets that do not suit the person using them — and can produce targets that are unsafe. Entering deliberately false details to obtain a lower target is a breach of our Terms of Service.
Under 18
calog's Terms of Service require you to be 18, or to have the consent of a parent or guardian. Weight loss during adolescence is not equivalent to weight loss in adulthood, and targets designed for adults are not appropriate for a growing body. If you are under 18 and thinking about losing weight, speak to a doctor or a parent before changing what you eat.
Reporting a concern
If you believe calog has produced an unsafe target, or you are concerned about someone using it, tell us and we will look at the specific account. Contact us.
